NEWTON, Mass., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CTA Construction Managers has reached another major construction milestone at the new Countryside Elementary School in Newton, completing the building's exterior enclosure as work continues toward opening the new school to students.
Completion of the exterior building envelope marks an important transition for the project, providing a weather-tight structure and allowing interior construction activities to advance throughout the building.
The new Countryside Elementary School is part of the City of Newton's continued investment in modern educational facilities. The approximately $76M project is being developed in partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, which is providing more than $20 million in state grant funding. The new school is being constructed on the existing Countryside site and will replace the aging facility currently serving the school community.
"We're excited to reach another significant milestone at Countryside Elementary School," said Pat Tompkins, Principal at CTA Construction Managers. "Completing the building enclosure allows our team and trade partners to continue accelerating interior work as we move closer to delivering a modern, high-performance school for Newton's students, educators and families."
The project continues CTA Construction Managers' longstanding relationship with the City of Newton. CTA previously constructed both the Spaulding Elementary School and Lincoln-Eliot Elementary School for the City.
Countryside also represents another chapter in CTA's 20-year relationship with DiNisco Design. CTA Construction Managers and DiNisco Design have now partnered on 10 school projects throughout Massachusetts.
"We value the opportunity to continue working with CTA and the City of Newton on projects that have such a direct and lasting impact on students and the community," said Donna DiNisco, President of DiNisco Design. "Reaching the building enclosure milestone is an exciting step as the vision for the new Countryside Elementary School continues to take shape."
Construction of the new Countryside Elementary School began in 2025. The city has reported that students are expected to move into their new classrooms in January 2027. Following the transition into the new building, the existing school will be demolished and replaced with new playing fields and associated site improvements.
With the building now enclosed, work is continuing on building systems, finishes, and other elements that will transform the structure into a next-generation learning environment for the Countryside community.
