WGT Concepts LLC, a multi-unit franchisee group, signs on to expand footprint across Oklahoma City and Tulsa following success of its first location
Fort Collins, CO (RestaurantNews.com) Cheba Hut “Toasted” Subs, the counter-culture sandwich shop known for its chill vibes, cottonmouth cures and bold flavors that hit just right, is sparking up new locations in Oklahoma. The brand has signed an eight-unit area development agreement with Oklahoma-based franchise group WGT Concepts LLC, paving the way for additional locations throughout the Oklahoma City and Tulsa markets over the coming years.
The expansion is led by entrepreneurs Rose Taylor and Steven VanCauwenbergh, whose first Cheba Hut location in Oklahoma City quickly became one of the brand’s top-performing restaurants. Building on that momentum, the duo plans to grow the brand across the state with new shops in Edmond and Norman, opened August 31st and November 5th respectively, and plans to enter the Tulsa market beginning in 2027.
Taylor and VanCauwenbergh bring experience across hospitality, accounting, operations and multi-business ownership, overseeing companies in the restaurant, professional services and investment sectors. Through WGT Concepts, they’ve built their business approach around strong systems, leadership development and long-term scalability. Cheba Hut remains their primary restaurant franchise concept and a brand they intend to continue scaling throughout Oklahoma.
The decision to expand was rooted in more than just the business opportunity. Long before becoming franchisees, they were fans of the brand’s personality, culture and ability to create genuine connections with guests.
“Oklahoma has always been home for us, and we believe people here are looking for experiences that feel authentic and memorable, not just another place to eat,” said Rose Taylor. “What keeps us investing in Cheba Hut is the way the brand brings people together. Guests walk in for the food, but they stick around because the atmosphere feels welcoming. We’ve seen that firsthand through our first shop, and its what gives us confidence as we continue to grow across the state.”
The agreement marks another step in Cheba Hut’s ongoing growth strategy as it continues to move into new and existing markets with experienced operators who understand how to scale while preserving the culture that sets it apart. The Oklahoma development deal also reinforces the demand for distinctive fast-casual brands that offer more than a transactional dining experience.
“Rose and Steven understand what makes Cheba Hut click, and they’ve already proven they can bring it to life,” said Seth Larsen, chief development officer of Cheba Hut. “They’ve built a great operation, connected with their community and created the kind of environment that keeps guests coming back. As we continue growing across the country, we’re looking for partners who can do exactly that.”
With eight new locations planned, Cheba Hut is positioned to deepen its presence across Oklahoma while continuing its expansion into markets where guests are hungry for something original.
