JTC Americas Selected by Darwin Metals Mining OZ Fund to Provide OZ Fund Administration

JTC Americas, formerly NES Financial, to handle fund administration for the nation's only metals mining operation offered as a Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund

PR Newswire

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 14, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- JTC Americas (formerly NES Financial) has entered into an agreement with the Darwin Metals Mining Opportunity Zone (OZ) Fund to provide fund administration services related to the reopening of one of the most storied and significant mining districts in the US.

Located in Inyo County, California, Darwin was once America's largest silver and strategic metals mining operation during the First and Second World Wars. However, the mine had to be shut down in the 1970's when the Chinese government flooded the US market with supply. Fast forward 50 years, and the US finds itself in a supply chain crunch. The existing mine shafts are already drilled into high-grade quality zinc and silver beds, and the property has enough known materials to last for the next 100+ years. This is the only independent mining project of its kind, and also happens to be within a Qualified Opportunity Zone.

Javelin Securities, LLC, a registered broker/dealer focused on vetting and raising capital for Opportunity Zones, has been retained to raise capital for the Darwin Mining OZ Fund. The project is a perfect case study for how the Opportunity Zones initiative was intended to work, as it's expected to create a significant number of jobs in Inyo County and at the same time, play a strategic role in rebuilding the US supply chain for nine important critical minerals. In fact, the restarting of the Darwin Mine was voted "America's Top OZ Project" at the recent Opportunity Zone Expo in Denver, CO.

JTC Americas has been a leader in Opportunity Zones fund administration since the program's inception, offering purpose-built solutions that leverage technology to streamline complicated tax and administrative requirements with embedded security, transparency, and regulatory compliance at each step of an investment's life cycle, lowering operating costs while minimizing risk.

This deep experience and revolutionary technology made JTC Americas the easy choice for the Darwin Mining OZ Fund because of the project's size and the desire to create a positive social and environmental impact, which includes the use of renewable energy sources. Investors will have the benefit of JTC's institutional-grade fund administration solutions like tracking and reporting on the project's economic and social impact.

"JTC is the perfect partner for Javelin because our large breadth of projects leads to a diverse customer base and JTC has been able to streamline much of the process for our clients," said Wally Sullivan, CEO of Javelin Securities.

"Not only is this Opportunity Zone Fund a great example of how the OZ initiative has the potential to revitalize communities that have been left behind," added Reid Thomas, Chief Revenue Officer and Managing Director of JTC Americas, "but it also has the potential to provide a more predictable and competitive supply chain built in America."
