GREENVILLE, S.C., Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today Michelin introduced the Michelin X® Multi Energy™ D2 tire, engineered specifically for the unique demands of regional haul operations. Regional fleets contend with demanding road conditions, frequent stop-and-start driving cycles, and rising fuel costs that can significantly impact performance and profitability. Combining durability, fuel efficiency, and trusted Michelin performance, the X® Multi Energy™ D2 tire helps fleets maximize productivity while lowering their cost of operation.
“Michelin is driven by a deep commitment to understanding the needs and challenges customers face every day,” said Yahn Heurlin, VP of B2B Marketing, Michelin North America, Inc. “This customer-first mindset inspires the development of purpose-built solutions designed to address real-world pain points and help fleets operate more efficiently.”
This tire offers an updated tread pattern and new tread compound designed to improve resistance to tread damage caused by high torque vehicles and stop and go driving of regional applications. Additionally, it is built on Michelin’s Duracore casing, which incorporates Infinicoil® and Powercoil™ technologies and is enhanced with a reinforced bead design (Duracoil® Technology). The casing is designed for up to one million miles and up to four retreads.
To help fleets battle fuel costs, the Michelin X® Multi Energy™ D2 tire improved rolling resistance by 9% from its predecessor1, the Michelin X® Multi Energy™ D tire and is 18% better than leading competitors2.
Varying road conditions can be a real pain point for regional fleets. The Michelin X® Multi Energy™ D2 tire improved late life traction performance: 10% better wet handling performance3 and 16% better snow starting traction when worn4, compared to the Michelin X® Multi Energy™ D tire. These improvements provide drivers and operations managers with confidence.
For original equipment manufacturers, the X® Multi Energy™ D2 tire meets Greenhouse Gas standards, supporting applicable vehicle carbon-reduction requirements. The X® Multi Energy™ D2 tire is designed for regional applications where traction, durability and fuel efficiency are important considerations.
The X® Multi Energy™ D2 tire is available today in 295/75R22.5 LRG and 11R22.5 LRG and LRH sizes replacing the X® Multi Energy™ D tire in those sizes.
1 Calculated based on ISO28580 rolling resistance testing; X® Multi Energy D2 tire vs. X® Multi Energy D tire; 11R22.5 LRG size tires.
2 Based on internal ISO28580 rolling resistance testing using Michelin X® Multi Energy D2 tire vs. Bridgestone M760 Ecopia tire and Goodyear Fuel Max RTD tire; all tires 11R22.5 LRG.
3 Based on internal testing; X® Multi Energy D2 tire vs. X® Multi Energy D tire; 11R22.5 LRG size; both tires worn to 10/32” remaining tread depth.
4 Based on internal testing; X® Multi Energy D2 tire vs. X® Multi Energy D tire; 11R22.5 LRG size; both tires worn to 10/32” remaining tread depth.
